LAKEVIEW, Ore. — An OSP trooper discovered pounds of marijuana inside wrapped birthday gift boxes during a traffic stop near Lakeview on Monday. Two California residents are now facing charges as a result of that traffic stop.
On Monday evening, Oregon State Police say a trooper stopped a 1990 Ford van displaying Minnesota license plates heading northbound on Highway 395 near milepost 139 for a speeding violation.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper to discover two wrapped birthday presents contained approximately 8 pounds of marijuana. In addition, an ice cooler had approximately 10 ounces of frozen hash oil. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $20,000.
The two occupants of the vehicle, 21-year-old Jordan A. Braun and 19-year-old Donald Nalezny, were cited and released to appear in Lake County Circuit Court for Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. They are both from both from Sonoma, California.
