Mandatory Evacuations in Siskiyou County

ERIN FIRE 2SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Due to the growth of the Oregon Gulch Fire the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a Mandatory Evacuation Notice to the Copco area residents that live one mile east of the town Copco to the Beaver Creek area.

The Sheriff’s Office has also issued Mandatory Evacuation Notice to the residents of Beaver Creek.

An evacuation center for both evacuated areas has been established at Jackson Street Elementary School in Yreka, 405 Jackson Street, Yreka, California. The Sheriff’s Office says domesticated animals will be accepted and will be the owner’s responsibility.

    Some confusion about the Beaver Creeks…..
    1. Beaver Creek Fire located down Hwy. 96 just East of the town of Klamath River, about 30 miles west of Hwy 263, which is north of Yreka. Fires are burning to the north of Hwy. 96 in that area. Evacuations are in place for that Beaver Creek Fire.

    2. There is another Beaver Creek, adjacent to the town of Copco, CA. According to Inciweb.org, there is another evacuation from that Beaver Creek to just East of Copco.

    Confusing to say the least…..how about some nifty links to a good map?
