CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — A Josephine County man was found dead on Tuesday night in the street. His death makes it the third homicide in less than a month in Cave Junction. The woman who found the victim dead found multiple stab wounds on his back.
On Wednesday, crime tape blocked West Millie Street as investigators with the Oregon State Police and the Josephine County District Attorney’s office continued to put the pieces together of what happened to 39-year-old Aaron Clouser.
Michelle Fite, a friend of Clouser’s, found his body on the street Tuesday night. She came outside to walk her dog, when she saw him lying on the road. At first, Fite believed Clouser was drunk. She tells NewsWatch 12 he liked to party and drink often.
With help from a friend she moved Clouser closer to her home and was going to splash water on him to walk him up, but realized he was dead and may have been stabbed.
“I seen a cut on his hand, and some blood on his back. All I could think of was his parents, his family, what they’re going to grieve. I just hope God eases their pain,” said Michelle said.
Investigators are not confirming if Clouser died from stab wounds. Clouser does have a criminal history.
They are not releasing many details but did serve a search warrant at a home on Millie Street nearby where Clouser was found dead. Anyone with information about Tuesday night and Clouser is asked to contact Oregon State Police at 1-800-442-2068 or by e-mail crimetips2OSP@state.or.us
