MEDFORD, Ore. — A man died in his vehicle a block away from his home. The next day, his home caught fire. Medford Fire Chief confirms the home engulfed in flames Sunday afternoon on South Stage Road in Medford belonged to the man who passed away sitting in his vehicle on Saturday.
Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies believe the 50-year-old man was suffering from a heart attack while driving. He was reportedly able to pull over near a gated driveway before passing.
Sunday, crews responded to his home where smoke was billowing from the windows on the left side of the home. “If you’re looking at it, the left side, which is burnt more than the right side that was more involed and I suspect that’s where the fire started,” said Medford Fire’s Brian Fish.
The left side is a total loss. Rescue crews say a dog was inside the home, but is in good condition. Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
