Man Arrested for Reckless Burning

grass fireMEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police arrested a suspect in a grass fire that occurred along I-5 on June 27th. Dustin Alan Paulsen, 31 of Medford, is charged with reckless burning and is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $4,000 bail.

On June 27th, Medford Fire and Jackson County Fire District 3 responded to a report of a grass fire near mile marker 32 on Interstate 5. The fire had been started by fireworks and burned about 1/10 of an acre.

Medford Police were contacted by a witness who was traveling on I-5 and saw a passenger in a vehicle throwing fireworks from the car as it was going South. The witness gave police the license plate number of the car and a description of the passenger and from that police were able to locate the suspect.

Medford Police’s investigation revealed Paulsen threw an additional five to six fireworks from the vehicle as it traveled on I-5 from Central Point through Medford.
