GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Grants Pass detectives tracked down a man who they say is one of the worst criminals they’ve dealt with this year. Investigators say that man is linked to several major burglaries and car thefts in Josephine County.
After several weeks of investigative work detectives narrowed the search down to the 1900 block of Fruitdale Drive. They ended up finding Jayson Sauer who took off running. They say Sauer ran toward the irrigation ditch next to a residence, but officers caught up with him and made the arrest.
Sergeant Dan Evans with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said the department’s been looking for Sauer. He’s a felon who had a warrant out for his arrest. Sergeant Evans said they found items at the residence on Fruitdale Drive and other residences that linked him to burglaries in the city and county area.
“Right now, our evidence facility is overflowing with property that we’ve seized that are linked to him at this point. We’re still trying to identify the victims of the property,” said Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety Sgt. Dan Evans
Investigators say Sauer showed up on their radar after they arrested multiple people for a burglary ring over the summer. Investigators are still looking into other incidents linked to Sauer. They say more charges are possible.
