MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford woman is still shaken up after she says a man forced his way into her business and choked her. One of the owners of Rumors Karaoke Lounge says a man she recognized earlier Tuesday night showed up at her business after hours and then assaulted her. Police say the man choking the owner is 34-year-old Frankie Parker.
The victim says her husband heard the commotion and came rushing out. She says her husband yelled at Parker to leave, using a pool cue. The victim did not want to go on camera, but she says Parker was at Rumors earlier in the evening playing video poker.
After closing, he claimed he lost his wallet, but when she told him he couldn’t come in because they were closed, he forced his way in and choked her. She said he was demanding she give him back the money he lost gambling. The victim says she’s thankful her husband was around. Police believe Parker could have killed her.
“We’ve seen murders like that, so it doesn’t take much more to kill somebody, if you’re choking them or restricting their breathing, you could easily kill someone,” explained Lt. Mike Budreau.
Parker ended up running out of the business. Medford Police found Parker hiding behind a dumpster at the Millwood Inn. He is charged with robbery, burglary, assault and strangulation. This is the second violent crime in Medford in a row, in the early morning hours on Tuesday, a man broke into an elderly couple’s home.
