Man Accused of Scamming Hospital

MEDFORD, Ore. — A Central Point man known as a scam artist is arrested for impersonating a federal officer and stealing treatment from a local hospital.

Police say 42-year-old Donald Anderson went to Rogue Regional Medical Center in October dressed as a U.S. Marshal, complete with a uniform, tactical vest, badge and holster. Anderson gave a fake name and claimed he was transporting a fugitive and needed treatment for anxiety. He then left without paying the thousand-dollar bill.

Hospital staff recently saw Anderson’s mugshot on the jail’s website, and reported him to police. Police say Anderson had pulled the same hospital scam before, disguised as a concrete mixer. He’s now being charged with identity theft and impersonation of a police officer.
