ASHLAND, Ore. — MADGE says they have arrested a man they say was manufacturing Dimethyltryptamine, or DMT.
Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team (MADGE), along with other law enforcement agencies, executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Faith Avenue in Ashland on Thursday morning. MADGE reports the search warrant was looking for evidence of the manufacture, deliver, and possession of the controlled substance more commonly known as DMT.
MADGE says DMT is a schedule one hallucinogenic drug. DMT is manufactured by processing bark or other plant material from one of several plants containing the drug utilizing chemicals such as ether, kerosene, and muriatic acid.
According to MADGE, the suspect, 48-year-old Travis Thane Thompson, is in custody after initially fighting with investigators during the service of the search warrant. Thompson will be lodged at the Jackson County jail on charges of Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery – DMT; Unlawful Delivery DMT Within 1000’ of a School; Unlawful Possession Methamphetamine, and Resisting Arrest.
Due to the fact that the scene is an active laboratory with potentially harmful chemicals, investigators are still on scene to process and secure the site. They awaiting members of the Oregon Emergency Response System (OERS). MADGE says OERS is tasked through the Oregon DEQ to clean up illicit drug laboratory sites. The labratory is also reportedly within 1,000 feet of the Siskiyou School in Ashland.
