Sergi Fired from Sheriff’s Office

sergiMEDFORD, Ore. — A Jackson County sheriff’s lieutenant who challenged Sheriff Mike Winters in the May primary election has been fired.

Bob Sergi was let go on Monday, and the sheriff’s office confirmed he is no longer employed there.

Sergi believes the firing is fallout from his attempt to run for sheriff, and said he was told he did not share the sheriff’s vision for the agency.

Sergi was the subject of an Oregon Department of Justice investigation earlier this year after the sheriff’s office accused him of using an employee contact list to solicit campaign funds. Those charges were later dropped because of a lack of evidence.
