Lost Medford Girl Found Safe

MEDFORD, Ore. — A girl is found safe after Medford Police say she got lost walking home from school.

Police say the 13-year-old girl’s mother contacted police Monday evening when the girl did not return home from Hedrick Middle School.

Police say this was the first day she was to walk home after school and the mother believed she was lost. The girl was walking to her home in the 500 block of Stoneham Circle, Medford.

At about 8:20 p.m. a Medford Police officer located the missing 13 year old in the area of E. Barnett Road and Alder Creek. Officers determined she became lost while walking home from school. Medord Police said she was returned to her family and is in good health.

During the search for the girl, Medford Police activated “A Child is Missing” alert. This alert phones residents in the area and plays a recorded message regarding the missing person. The alert, however, does not notify the residents if the child is located.
