Local Sculptor Wants West Coast Statue

EAGLE POINT, Ore. — Jay Jarvie is a local sculptor who wants to create a West Coast sister statue to the Statue of Liberty. His potential statue would be called the Statue of Providence. It would stand about 180 feet tall and would be located somewhere on the West Coast.

Jarvie has a small model of what the statue would look like now, along with some funding he received from donations. The donations come from Kickstarter.com.

“The statue of liberty became the symbol of freedom and so hopefully, we expect the Providence to become that symbol … that’s what we want to work for, to make things even better,” Jarvie said.
