MEDFORD, Ore. –     Local law enforcement officers handle active shooter situations like the one at Reynolds High School near Portland on Tuesday differently now than they did a decade ago. More than a million dollars have been put into school security upgrades since the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012. NewsWatch 12’s Kirstin O’Connor heard from Lt. Mike Budreau with Medford Police about how officers have been trained to deal with an active school shooting.
