CURRY COUNTY, Ore.– An investigation into complaints over aerial pesticide usage in Curry County is now complete. The Oregon Department of Agriculture’s Pesticide Program found a White City pesticide company to be in multiple violations.
The company, Pacific Air Research, is accused of allowing pesticides to fall on properties outside its intended spray site, using products beyond the maximum amounts allowed on labeling, and providing false records that misled officials about used products.
Several residents claim people got sick because of the chemical exposure in October 2013. The investigation found pesticides present on residential properties near Gold Beach, in Cedar Valley. ODA officials said because of the seriousness of the matter, the ODA, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and The Oregon Department of Forestry are collaborating on enforcement actions. They say these violations could also results in civil suits.
