JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – As the GOP Convention wraps up, local party affiliations are anticipating the Democratic National Convention, which will start next week on September 4th.

Three from Jackson County went to the Republican National Convention in Tampa and one from Jackson and one Klamath counties will go to the Democratic National Convention next week. Although the delegates are attending completely different events, they seemed to believe the conventions were somewhat similar.

Both Democrats and Republicans in our district hold a mini-convention and choose local people to attend the event. The delegates for both parties must pay for the trip on their own, including airfare and hotels, it reportedly costs anywhere from $1,500 to $4,000 per person for travel expense.

Both parties will go to the convention, attend meetings for certain platforms, and get to voice their opinions. On top of that, the delegates have a chance to meet other people in the party. Despite the weather in Tampa, the Republican Convention went on as planned and local Republicans are hearing positive feedback from the delegates who attended.

Thursday night is the final night of the GOP National Convention in Tampa, Florida and the Democratic National Convention will start on Tuesday, September 4th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
