CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Just a day ahead of medical marijuana dispensaries becoming legal in Oregon, another city has decided to limit them. Starting Monday, Oregonians will be able to apply for a medical marijuana dispensary licence.
The Central Point City Council has decided it will limit where dispensaries can be located. Dispensaries in Central Point will only be allowed in areas zoned for commercial business and also will not be allowed within 500 ft of a home.
Meanwhile, in Salem, lawmakers still haven’t decided whether local governments can ban marijuana dispensaries. Today, the U.S. House of Representatives are expected to take up the bill to allow cities to ban dispensaries. However, the Senate’s version of the bill, forbids outright bans.
