Lightning Storms Start Small Fire

Lightning started fire near Days Creek in Douglas County.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — A lightning storm moved over Douglas County early Wednesday morning.  Approximately 85 lightning strikes have been recorded on the Douglas District, ranging in location from the Azalea area, to Glide, according to a press release from the Douglas Fire Protection Association (DFPA).

One fire has been located near Days Creek and is currently staffed by DFPA.  DFPA currently has firefighters looking through the lightning affected areas to locate any additional lightning related fires, and has a detection flight scheduled for the morning.
