Library Fine Amnesty a Success

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Over 300 people participated in Fine Amnesty Days at Josephine Community Libraries, Inc. (JCLI) this year, taking place January 15th-31st. In exchange for nonperishable food donations, JCLI promised to credit accounts of individuals and families who have accrued overdue fees, regardless of how long the item/s may have been overdue. Each donated item credited $5 towards the account.

Patrons donated over 400 pounds of food to go to the Josephine County Food Bank, plus several items for the Animal Shelter. Roughly 2,000 past-due items were returned to the libraries, helping to save each library the cost of purchasing materials to replace items overdue and no longer available for circulation to other individuals.

JCLI holds Fine Amnesty Days each January as an opportunity for patrons to return items past-due that might otherwise be preventing them from using library services.
