Jacksonville, Ore. – NewsWatch12’s Kirstin O’Connor meets one of the local lavender farmers participating in this year’s statewide festival.
The statewide Oregon Lavender Festival includes 30 lavender farms, and many of the participants are right here in Southern Oregon. The trail to the lavender farms will take visitors from Jacksonville to Grants Pass on Highway 238. Local farmers say you’ll be able to see more than 50 different varieties locally along with artisan booths, crafts and demonstrations.
“We’ve got lavender short bread cookies and strawberry lavender lemonade and so people can try that and lots of chocolates,” said Sue Owen, the co-owner of the English Lavender Farm.
The official festival ended on Sunday the 13th, but many the farms will be open for visitors from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. through the summer.
