Last Day Before Extreme Heat

video preview image

Enjoy the weather today, because it’s going to be getting brutally hot beginning tomorrow. High pressure will settle into the Desert Southwest and expand across the entire western half of the country. This is going to bump our temperatures into the upper 90’s and triple digits for as many as five days in a row. Record tying and breaking highs will most likely be reached come this weekend, especially on the East Side. Klamath Falls will be flirting with records both Saturday and Sunday.

The forecasted highs are going to be 5-15 degrees above seasonal values for this time in July. Siskyou County will well exceed the century mark this weekend, as Yreka is expected to reach 106 not just one but two days! The thunderstorm threat is going to return by the second half of the weekend and early next week. For now this is looking to be mostly Siskyou County and the East Side. Because thunderstorms were expected yesterday and being reflected in all of the weather models, but yes still failed to develop I am skeptical as to how many will actually end of forming. For now, I am keeping the threat minimal and don’t feel many showers and storms are going to be much a problem.

For now through the weekend, expect clear skies and extreme heat. Stay cool!
