Klamath County Works On Clean Air Rules

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Klamath County Commissioners are taking action to bring the county into compliance with federal clean air rules.

An updated Clean Air ordinance identifies what needs to be done to bring the fine particulate level down to acceptable levels by December of 2014. It eliminates waiver certificates and adds a certificate of variance instead.

If the non-attainment area fails to meet the new standards in two years, new restrictions on non-standard fire places will go into effect, banning their use in most cases.
