KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — Klamath County is the one of the unhealthiest counties in the state.
According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Report, Klamath County came 31st out of the 33 counties in the study. Part of the poor health ranking is because of the county’s high rate of smokers.
For every 100,000 people in Klamath County, 235 deaths occur because of tobacco-related illnesses. 24% of adults in Klamath County smoke, opposed to the 16% statewide statistic.
About 19% of Klamath County residents reported their own health as poor or fair in 2011.
