Oregon paid Oracle $134 million dollars to build the site, but it would never be used to actually sign up Oregonians. Instead paper applications had to be filled out with a representative. State officials recently decided to completely scrap the $300 million project and move into the federal exchange.
The governor is also asking Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley to help investigate and recoup taxpayers dollars paid to Oracle. Oracle says it repeatedly warned state officials that the website was not ready to launch.
