Kitzhaber Discusses Medicaid Policy

SALEM, Ore. — Governor John Kitzhaber will pitch his ideas for Medicaid overhaul to other governors this weekend.

Kitzhaber says he wants to make a push to change the way doctors are paid and patients are treated. The president highlighted the concept during his State of the Union Address as a potential option to reduce the deficit for Medicare.

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services announced yesterday it is giving Oregon a $45 million grant to help make the changes and share information with other states.
