PHOENIX, Ariz. — The fate of a former Yreka woman, accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend in Arizona, now rests in the hands of a jury. Jodi Arias’ trial started in January, and her defense presented its closing arguments on Friday.
All along, the defense has said Arias killed Travis Alexander in 2008 in self-defense and her attorney used his final opportunity in front of the jury to point out that if the murder was premeditated, Arias had plenty of opportunities kill her ex-boyfriend beforehand.
Arias took the stand in her own defense, testifying for a total of 18 days. She could face the death penalty if convicted of first degree murder.
