GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A Southern Oregon University student organized an event to help raise money for the Blue Slide Project. Yard sale items and local vendors packed the Parkside Elementary parking lot Saturday.
The sale’s proceeds go toward building a more wheelchair-accessible playground at the school. According to organizers, the project started fundraising in April of 2012 and since then they’ve raised $52,000 for the first phase of the project.
Organizers hope to start construction on the new playground by the beginning of this summer.
