Today will be the last chance for showers and thunderstorms across the area. Expect a quite morning with thunderstorm activity amplifying in the afternoon. Thanks to the moisture being advected into the area by the remnance of tropical depression Fabio we have an increased chance for stronger storms today. Thunderstorms have the ability to bring locally heavy rainfall, small hail, and gusty winds in excess of 30 mph. Remember if you hear thunder roar, head indoors!
Expecting storms on the east side of the mountains have heavier rains while the west side has a better chance at seeing hail and strong winds. A red flag warning goes into effect at 2pm today and lasts until 5am tomorrow morning. Fire danger today is HIGH, especially east of the Cascades. Any fires that spark have the ability to grow and move quickly.
Storms today may be flirting with severe status by the end of the day. Be weather aware today…and fire aware!
Thanks for logging on and stay safe today!
