GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A facility in Josephine County that disposes of yard trimmings and waste water bio-solids will remain partially open.
In September, the Grants Pass City Council decided to close down JoGro and save money by taking waste to the Dry Creek Landfill in White City. On Thursday night, however, the council discussed a leasing agreement to have Republic Services manage JoGro instead.
“JoGro probably won’t close in its entirety. It’ll probably go under the new management of Republic Services. We won’t be doing composting on site. They will still be accepting vegetative waste and construction wood debris,” said Terry Haugen with Grants Pass Public Works.
There are other places residents can go to dispose yard debris, such as the Southern Oregon Compost or the Transfer Station in Merlin.
