MEDFORD, Ore. — In Jackson County, emergency planners are preparing for the possibility of a tsunami or offshore earthquake.
They say that the biggest challenge that the Rogue Valley faces is isolation if something happened along I-5. Local planners say the biggest priority is making sure that the area can function on its own for three to five days in a disaster.
They also say the chances of an earthquake here are still quite low, but that the area’s importance as a transportation hub make it important to prepare.
