Invasive Species Inspections Begin

ASHLAND, Ore. — Invasive hitchhikers will no longer be allowed on Oregon waterways.

State boat inspectors began their work this week, checking boats for invasive species at an inspection station near Ashland on I-5.

Inspectors used to begin in May, but they are starting early in the hopes of catching any offenders they may have missed before. Last year, the state reported finding 51 boats with invasive species.
