Intern Workplace Bill Protects Rights

businessSALEM, Ore. — The Oregon legislature voted on a bill to protect unpaid interns in the workplace.

Currently, there are only laws in place to protect employees and paid interns against harassment and discrimination.

Now the measure will give unpaid interns the same benefits against workplace violations like sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation for whistle blowing. It now heads to Governor Kitzhaber’s desk for approval.
