In the Garden: Hardening Off Plants

video preview image

Medford, Ore. — If your plants are getting a head start indoors, before moving them outdoors there are some things you should know.

OSU Master Gardeners say hardening off your plant starts means you gradually introduce greenhouse plants to the outdoors before planting them.

To do that, start by putting the plants in a shady spot, protected from the wind for about an hour each day.  Gradually increase the time and exposure to the sun and wind each day, until they can stay outside all day and all night before planting them.
