MEDFORD, Ore. — An inspirational speech by Nick Vujicic Saturday morning excited more than 1,600 volunteers with the “I Heart Rogue Valley” campaign.
Volunteers spread out from Ashland to Central Point to give some of their time and effort back to the community. The Southern Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Center in Medford was one of Saturday’s 63 projects. Executive Director Glory Cooper welcomed the support.
“We’re fortunate this group is here today so that we can leverage more dollars for eye exams, eye glasses, hearing aids and low visual products.” said Cooper.
Volunteer Evan Winney from Medford participated in last year’s “I Heart Ashland” event and wanted to help again this year.
“I just happened to be blessed with the opportunity to jump in and help out with a project and I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to be working with,” said Winney.
Winney thinks something as simple as a fresh coat of paint will go a long way.
“We really do care about the community and are just trying to give something back,” Winney said.
