I-5 Car Fire Ends Road Trip

NEAR TALENT, Ore. — India Ford had been traveling on a road trip for three months from Canada when her vehicle caught fire Sunday.

Fire engines from Fire District 5 responded to northbound lanes I-5 at milepost 20 to the vehicle fire. The fire forced crews to shut down one lane of traffic. The blaze burned for more than an hour. She lost almost everything.

“My passport, my ID…I have nothing. I’ve got 8 bucks and a burned up bag. That’s all I have,” she said.

An Oregon State Police officer took the girl to the airport, where she was reportedly able to get a flight home. She had a full tank of gas, which was why the vehicle burned for so long.
