MEDFORD, Ore. – An investigation into a weekend shooting that left one man, 29-year-old Raymond Young, in the hospital led to a police standoff on Thursday afternoon.
“Because of the seriousness of the case, the dangerousness of the case, as well as some past gang issues that we’ve had at this particular residence, we utilized the swat team to execute a search warrant,” explained Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau.
Medford Police and SWAT teams surrounded a home on Shelterwood Circle on Thursday afternoon, looking for a suspect in Saturday’s shooting. Medford Police arrested one man who tried to run from officers at the scene.
His name is not being released, but police said he was wanted on a drug warrant. Police said they will search the house for evidence related to Saturday’s shooting. The standoff put Howard Elementary School on lockdown for about an hour that afternoon.
