MEDFORD, Ore. — As fire season heats up, so does fire management.
The Oregon Department of Forestry says no matter where the fire starts – or what kind of land it’s on – the closest units will always respond. At that point, the fire management agency will determine if the fire should be attacked.
If there is little threat to life and property, fire management could decide to allow the fire to burn in a controlled manor, meaning crews decide where the fire will go but do not put out the flames.
With full force, like the one in Grants Pass last Friday, ODF is still looking for anyone with information on how that fire started along I-5. They are asking anyone who was passing mile marker 55 on Friday, between 3:15 and 3:30 to call 541-471-3883.
