WHITE CITY, Ore. — Two new apartment complexes have opened up to help homeless veterans and low income families.
The Housing Authority of Jackson County held an open house for the new Freedom Square complex in White City on Thursday. The apartment complex features 34 units, 18 of which are being used to help veterans who are homeless or have been homeless in the past.
Low income tenants and families are also eligible to rent the apartments. So far, they say nearly every unit in Freedom Square has been rented.
“I think it’s very important. Having stable housing gets them situated in the community so they can again be productive members as they have been in the past, obviously,” said Scott Foster of the Housing Authority of Jackson County
The Housing Authority is also opening 16 units in the similar “Liberty Place” complex in Central Point.
