Today marks the end of the seasonable temperatures before we kick up the heat 5-10 degrees compared to what we’ve seen as we head into the weekend. The hot and dry conditions means that there is the potential for explosive fire growth for any new fires that spark or existing fires. Keep fire safety in mind this weekend as well as your own safety. Remember to stay hydrated, wear lose light clothing and re-apply sunscreen throughout the day if exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. Keep your furry friends in mind too and make sure they are cool and hydrated as well.
We’ll see sunny skies through the weekend which means clear skies for the Perseid meteor shower this weekend. The saving grace of the weekend is that although the afternoons will be hot, the overnight lows won’t be too cold so viewing of the meteor shower should be pleasant.
As we head into next weekend the area will still see above normal temperatures with the chance of some triple digits in the valleys next week as well.
