Homemade Bomb Found in Alley

MEDFORD, Ore. — A homemade bomb is found in a West Medford alley. Officers say it was just luck the lit fuse on the device went out by itself.

Oregon State Police and Medford Police responded Friday afternoon on West 12th street. Police say whoever made that bomb wanted to cause harm. It was placed in the middle of the alley where a car or passerby could have ran into it.

“The fences that surrounded the alley, would not have stopped the shrapnel. It may have slowed it down but it wouldn’t have stopped it. Anybody that would have happened to have been walking by or driving by could have been very injured,” said Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau.

The OSP bomb squad plans to further examine the device and check for possible fingerprints.

Anyone surprised this was found in Medford’s bastion for gang activity?

  2. Ed says:

That’s just another reason to why Im moving my family out of this gang infested, drug infested town. The police have lost control here. I live in west Medford and we have gang’s, drug’s, drive by’s, shooting;s, stabing’s, and now bomb;s. WTF were are the cop’s? They say they have increased patrol’s but I don’t see them. They say they have started a gang taskforce ( if you can call two people a taskforce) were are they?

From the tone of it, Ed has been touched by reality. I also live in West Medford, but aside from that, there are parts of East Medford that are as bad, and the fault does NOT lie with the Medford Police Department.
Cast your blame, and frustration with the justice system we’re forced to endure. The revolving door that both the good citizens, and fine men and women of our police department, have to live with everyday. They pick up a gang-banger, drug dealer, or other pinnacle of society, only to have to release them because of “over crowding.”
Until the public, meaning Ed, the John and Jane Doe’s, and myself demand that the politicians and judges protect society from those that will do us harm, we will remain exploited prey.

It is so sad to see such things continue to happen. The Police do as much as they can, but the criminals figure out new ways to do their dirty stuff. We have moved from there, and found a place that isn’t crime-free however, it’s not as bad as Medford and other Oregon cities. It took gun shots, a man wanted by the police, hiding in our backyard, and a stabbing in the street in front of our home to decide to move. We live over 1,800 miles away now, and our kids are so much happier, and so are we. This is scary stuff, and we don’t regret the move. If anyone is thinking about moving, I encourage you to do the research on the new area you wish to move to, and if possible, send a family member to the area to see first hand how it looks and feels. We did, and I’m really glad we did.
