MEDFORD, Ore. – A feature-length film will be shot in Southern Oregon and along with the lights, camera and action comes big bucks and local jobs. The independent drama, “Night Moves” is expected to start filming in Medford and Ashland next month.
The production crew will bring a lot more than just big stars like Dakota Fanning and Jesse Eisenberg to the valley. The governor’s office of film and television said that in 2009, the state had $62 million in direct spending from film, TV and commercials and the city of Medford says that’s good economic news. The state office says 80 to 90% of each production crew is local.
“Night Moves” has an ad for extras up on Craiglist, and expects to be filming between October 16th and November 11th in Southern Oregon. The ad is calling for people of all ages and sizes, specifically with a so-called “non-traditional” look.
There are reports of a copyright lawsuit being filed against “Night Moves.” However, it appears as if the production crew is moving forward with its plans, posting the Craigslist casting ad after the suit was filed.
