MEDFORD, Ore. – The NewsWatch 12 Holiday Toy and Food Drive is about half way over, but we are still in need of donations to make sure every child has a toy under the Christmas tree.
The Salvation Army just finished up its Christmas Assistance Sign-Ups, saying 1,500 families signed up to receive help this holiday season. The need adds up quickly, when you consider there are about 6 people to a family that need a holiday meal.
The sign-ups also include about 3,000 children, who need a special visit from Santa. The Salvation Army said although the last day to donate is the 21st, the earlier the donations come in the better.
The items donated will go to Salvation Army and ACCESS to be distributed. You can donate at most of the Fred Meyer locations in Southern Oregon. You’ll find these boxes at the Fred Meyer stores in Medford, Grants Pass and Klamath Falls. You have until December 21st to drop off a brand-new toy or non-perishable food item.
