Heroin, Gun Found in Car with Child

NEAR CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Oregon State Police have arrested two people after a trooper found a gun and heroin inside their car, along with a 4-year-old passenger.

On Tuesday night, an OSP trooper pulled over a 2014 Mazda MZ6 on Interstate 5 near milepost 32 for speeding. The vehicle occupants were identified as driver 28-year-old Marie D. Johnson,; passenger 27-year-old Dustin W. Taylor; and, the driver’s 4-year old son. OSP says the adults are Clatsop County residents.

Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper to find a 9mm handgun underneath Taylor’s seat, and small amount of heroin and other evidence related to the possession and distribution of heroin.

Taylor and Johnson were both arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. DHS was contacted and took the child into protective custody.
