Helicopter Crash Reported in Douglas Co.

Police Pursuit NEAR DAYS CREEK, Ore. — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports a helicopter crashed into the river near the 13000 block of Tiller Trail Highway near Days Creek.

The crash was reported around 11:44 a.m. on Monday. The sheriff’s office says emergency personnel responded to the crash site and found a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter had crashed into the South Umpqua River and the three occupants were still inside.

The occupants were removed from the wreckage and transported for treatment. The sheriff’s office reports the adult male pilot was airlifted to River Bend Hospital in Eugene. The adult male and adult female passengers were transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Roseburg. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Power lines in the area are down as a result of the crash and PP&L is on scene. The regional HAZMAT team is on scene due to fuel leakage into the river. The FAA and NTSB have been notified.

    I am a student at Days Creek Charter School and this scared us all terribly. Honestly even though im almost 17 i thought a zombie apocalypse would happen because of this.
