HealthWatch: Realistic Exercise

healthandfitness(CNN) — Life can feel like a marathon, but you don’t need to run one to stay in shape.

Physical fitness experts say walking, riding a bike, even a weekly Zumba class can keep you feeling your best.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average person should try to get in at least 150 minutes of exercise a week.

If you break up your routine in 10, 20 or 30 minute increments, the affects of physical activity will pay off.

The best way to stay active is to engage in moderate or vigorous exercise and add a little strength training two or more days a week.

Your muscles and bones will thank you.

Don’t underestimate walking.

A brisk stroll for a half-hour or more can do wonders for the body and there’s no need for fancy shoes, or a gym membership.
