HealthWatch: Child Cancer Research Fund

GABRIELLAWASHINGTON, D.C. —  President Barack Obama signed a pediatric research initiative into law today.

Known as the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act, the law establishes a 10-year pediatric research fund.

Monies previously designated to finance national political conventions will now be used to support research into childhood cancer and other pediatric diseases and disorders.

The measure is named for a Virginia girl who lost her battle with brain cancer last year.
