SALEM, Ore. – Jon Guzman had to watch from the sidelines last year as Henley won the 4A baseball championship. Guzman had been benched by coaches after Guzman made what he referred to as a “mistake.”
Guzman said it was tough to watch his team win without him, so he was determined to make it back in 2014 and help the Hornets.
He did. In the biggest way possible.
Saturday, Guzman pitched a no-hitter, struck out 12 batters, and even hit a home run, leading Henley to a 10-0 win over Sisters and capturing the Oregon 4A baseball title.
Third baseman Josh Overstreet added a double and five RBIs as the Hornets capped off their second straight championship.
