SALEM, Ore. — Oregon took it’s first step in officially honoring its World War II veterans on Wednesday.
The state broke ground on a long awaited World War II Memorial project. It will be in Wilson Park, just west of the State Capitol in Salem. The groundbreaking brought out quite a few people including veterans and a few state leaders.
The memorial is expected to cost $1.5 million. Project organizers hope to have it built by Veteran’s Day this year.
