MEDFORD, Ore. — Oregon Congressman Greg Walden spent his day honoring veterans at ceremonies across Southern Oregon.
Congressman Walden started the day at a commemoration at the memorial park in central point, then celebrated with veterans at the V.A. Dom in White City.
Later in the afternoon, Walden spoke with ROTC cadets and student veterans at Southern Oregon University, before ending the day at the Veterans Park in Medford. There, Walden helped to dedicate the new Korean War Memorial at the park, which he said was significant to him personally.
“My father-in-law fought in Korea,” Rep. Walden said. “I never knew a lot about his service there, like a lot of veterans he didn’t talk about it. You see some pictures of him as a young man over there, but for all of us as Americans, today is a day to celebrate our veterans.”
Walden thanked veterans for their service, and says the support for veterans in Southern Oregon is enormous.
