GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Green technology is saving the Grants Pass YMCA thousands of dollars while keeping their members more comfortable.
Avista gave the organization $78,000 to upgrade its pool system and all of the new equipment is installed. The executive director said he system will do several things. It will pull warm air from the pool making the air drier and return the heat back into the system to warm the pool water.
“We had a couple of old systems in place before this and so with the new system again, the atmosphere in that pool area is just tremendous, and I mean, it’s just a fantastic system,” said Executive Director Kevin Clark.
YMCA expects to save $23,000 a year because of the upgrade. The system should last 25 years.
