GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Two suspects in an armed robbery in Grants Pass are now behind bars. Grants Pass police say surveillance footage of the altercation was essential to their investigation and led to the arrests.
The owner of the Why Not Market says it was the first day on the job for her employee. Sunday night that employee found himself with a gun pointed at his face. The following surveillance footage shows the attack and robbery and may be graphic for some viewers.
Sunday just before 11 p.m., two men wearing dark clothing walk into the why not market while the store employee restocks cigarettes with his back toward the door. He turns around to find one suspect pointing a gun at him and the other beats him with a club.
The manager of the Why Not Market says her employee did require staples and stitches on his head but has since returned to work. Grants Pass police say the surveillance footage was essential to the investigation and someone was able to recognize the men.
The two men are lodged in the Josephine County Jail and face several charges including 1st degree robbery, 2nd degree robbery, 3rd degree assault and 2nd degree theft. The owner of the why not market says events like this are rare and in the 25 years she has been with the market, it has only been robbed one other time.
